How to Transfer High School Credits to Learn Star Academy

If you earned high school credits in the past, they may count toward your Learn Star Academy diploma. This guide explains how to request your transcripts, what to send, how the review works, the limits that apply, and how your remaining course plan is set.

Who can transfer credits

According to the Learn Star Academy Student Handbook, accepted transfer credit sources include:

• Regionally or nationally accredited U.S. high schools
• Public and charter schools recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
• Accredited international schools recognized by their country's Ministry of Education

Homeschool credits cannot be transferred for adult students. If you plan to complete all of your credits through Learn Star Academy, you do not need to send past records at enrollment.

How to request your transcripts

1. List every school you attended. Include the school name, city and state, the years you attended, and the name you used at the time.
2. Contact each school's records office. Ask for an official high school transcript. If a school has closed, the school district or state education agency can often tell you who holds its records.
3. Have it sent directly to Learn Star Academy. Official transcripts must go straight from the issuing school to the Learn Star Academy Registrar's Office. Transcripts you send yourself are not accepted. Call admissions at (888) 381-5335 or email support@learnstar.com for current sending instructions.
4. Send GED® or HiSET® scores, if you have them. Official score reports must come directly from the testing service.
5. Wait for the Registrar's review. The Registrar compares your credits to your program's requirements and tells you which credits were accepted.

Limits that apply to every student

• Transfer maximum: Learn Star Academy may accept up to 75% of the required credits through transfer. Because at least 6.0 credits must be earned at Learn Star Academy, that means up to 15.5 transfer credits can count toward the 21.5-credit Standard Career-Ready program, or up to 18 credits toward the 24-credit College & Career Prep program.
• Residency minimum: You must complete at least 6.0 credits directly through Learn Star Academy, no matter how many transfer credits are accepted.
• GED® and HiSET® credit: Up to 5.0 credits can be awarded for passed sections: 2.0 English credits for Reasoning Through Language Arts and 1.0 credit each for Math, Science, and Social Studies. These are ungraded transfer credits and do not affect your GPA.
• Final decisions: Transfer credit decisions are made by the Learn Star Academy Registrar and are not subject to appeal.

How your course plan is set

After the review, your accepted credits are matched against the subject requirements for your program. The courses you still need make up your course plan. These are the credit requirements from the current Course Catalog:

What we cannot promise

Learn Star Academy does not publish a set review turnaround time, and it cannot say which credits will be accepted until your official transcripts are reviewed. Your completion time depends on accepted transfer credits, demonstrated competency, study time, and individual progress. Students have up to 18 months from the date of enrollment to complete all program requirements.
