About Learn Star Academy
Empowering Adults to Earn their High School Diploma — on their Terms.
About Learn Star Academy – Adult High School
Learn Star Academy is an accredited adult high school and a component school of Excel Education Systems. Specifically designed for adult students, Learn Star Academy offers a flexible, supportive environment for those seeking to complete their high school education and earn an accredited high school diploma. The school is geared toward adults returning to school, juggling school with other life roles such as work and parenting, or those seeking a more viable option than the GED® route.
Learn Star Academy offers a structured, convenient, and relevant education experience that fits the realities of adult life. Students take courses at their own pace and graduate with a sense of direction and accomplishment. Our programs are tailored to help adult learners complete their required coursework, strengthen skills, and prepare for jobs, careers, college, the military, or simply for their own self-satisfaction. We are a student-first school system!
Learn Star Academy is part of Excel Education Systems, which includes shared academic standards, compliance oversight, instructional systems, technology support, and student support. Maintaining its independent, adult-focused mission, Learn Star Academy leverages the experience, resources, and quality-assurance practices of this established network of accredited schools.
Excel Education Systems has been serving students since 2005, with a mission to expand opportunities for high-quality, customized, accredited education. Excel has since grown into a respected provider of accredited schools, curricula, and programs with students throughout the United States and the world. Excel operates several schools, including Excel High School, Excel High School Texas, Northgate Academy, Washington Technical Institute, and Learn Star Academy. These schools provide middle school and high school programs, adult diplomas, faith-based curricula, and career college programs. Excel Education Systems and its schools are dedicated to opening doors for students, completing education, and preparing for what is ahead.
Designed for Adults, and an Alternative to the GED
Learn Star Academy is designed specifically for adults. Every student is 18 or older, and we are building the school as a community of adult learners who are finishing high school around work, family, and other responsibilities.
The GED is a test-based route to a high school equivalency credential. Learn Star offers a course-based route instead: students complete courses, earn credits, and graduate with an accredited diploma and a transcript. Many colleges and employers accept both, and requirements vary by school, employer, and program.
In the future, Learn Star Academy is expected to serve the adult students that Excel High School serves today. Until that change is announced and put in place, Excel High School continues to serve its current adult students. We will share details, including timing, once they are confirmed.
