Learn Star Academy is designed exclusively for adult learners ages 18 and older. Our diploma program is thoughtfully organized to provide a clear path to graduation, beginning with essential core requirements in English, mathematics, science, social studies, and health/physical education. From there, students can personalize their educational experience by choosing from a diverse selection of elective courses aligned with their interests, career aspirations, and personal goals.
Course availability and content are reviewed regularly and may be updated to reflect current academic standards. Students are generally held to the graduation requirements in effect at the time of enrollment.
How Courses & Credits Work
Learn Star Academy awards credit through both traditional coursework and competency-based education (CBE) pathways. While many courses follow a structured model, select courses allow students to earn credit by demonstrating mastery of clearly defined competencies and learning outcomes. All courses are aligned with state graduation requirements and established high school credit equivalencies, providing students with flexible pathways to achieve their educational goals while maintaining rigorous academic standards.
Earning Credit
To earn credit for a course, students must demonstrate mastery of the course objectives by meeting all of the following minimum standards:
- A score of 60% or higher on the final exam.
- A score of 60% or higher on each writing assignment.
- A final course average of 60% or higher.
Pacing
Because the program is self-paced, you control how quickly you move. Adult learners have immediate access to final exams upon course completion. Most students complete a full-credit course within a few months by investing consistent weekly study time; students have up to 24 months to complete their coursework and earn their diploma.
Reading This Catalog
Each course entry lists its title, credit value, a description of what you will study, and the key outcomes you will achieve. Courses marked 1.0 are full-credit; courses marked 0.5 are half-credit (single semester).
Diploma Requirements at a Glance
Students must earn a minimum of 25% of their total required program credits directly through Learn Star Academy, regardless of the number of transfer credits accepted.
